History of Folk Voice
There were these two dance teachers... Donna Trip and Ted Martin,
they wanted some live music for their dance class in Long Beach.
They knew Kris Larsson and Phil Ages were musicians and
approached them about providing music for their dances.
Pretty soon
other musicians joined in and Interfolk turned into Skandia
Gammaldans Band, when most International Folkdancing gave way to the
Skandia wave.
Folk Voice was created when Philip of
Dutch descent, realized he was doing everyone else's music, but his own.
We have had numerous musicians with us since that time in 1987 or
so....
Nina Szimanski... Mueller started with Phil, then Birgit,
then Pete Kier who was very instrumental in keeping the band going,,
then Victor Robin.
Here in Seattle we have performed with members of Bright Sky.. Tanya
Opland and cohorts. and other dance groups and musicians. Currently some
of us are performing for Katrilli Finnish Folkdancers
We love waltzes... you may also know us as the waltz or sunshine
band.
everything goes easier in 3/4 takt/time!
